1. Scope

This clause of Part 1 is applicable, except as follows:

1.1

Replacement:

This standard applies to electric sauna heating appliances ha ving a rated input not exceeding 20 kW.

Sauna heaters may be of the thermal storage type or of the non- thermal storage type. This standard does not take into account the special hazards which exist in places where there are young children or aged or infirm persons without supervision; in such cases, additional requirements may be necessary.

This standard does not apply to:

- appliances producing steam and only intended to cause perspiration by a part of the human body and for which the user does not enter into a cabinet or the like; - sweating baths where the head of the user remains outside the heated space; - tents and other collapsible sauna baths.

For appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary.

Attention is drawn to the fact that in many countries additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities and the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour. /

L'article de la premiere partie est applicable avec les exceptions suivantes:

La presente norme s'applique aux radiateurs electriques pour sauna de puissance nominale inferieure ou egale a 20 kW.

Les radiateurs pour saunas peuvent etre du type a accumulation o u du type sans accumulation. La presente norme ne tient pas compte des dangers speciaux existant dans les lieux ou de jeunes enfants ou des personnes agees ou infirmes sont laisses sans surveilla nce; dans de tels cas, des prescriptions supplementaires peuvent etre necessaires.

La presente norme ne s'applique pas:

- aux appareils produisant de la vapeur et seulement prevus pour provoquer la transpiration d'une partie du corps humain, et pour laquelle l'usager n'entre pas dans une enceinte ou un endroit analogue; - aux bains de sudation ou la tete de l'usager reste a l'exterieur de l'espace chauffe; - aux tentes saunas et autres saunas pliants.

Pour les appareils destines a etre utilises dans les vehicules ou a bord des navires ou des avions, des regles supplementaires peuvent etre necessaires.

L'attention est attiree sur le fait que dans de nombreux pays des prescriptions supplementaires sont imposees par les organismes nationaux de la sante publique et les organismes nationaux responsables de la protection des travailleurs.
